What Auxilium does
It answers questions using a specific church’s own recorded teaching — sermons, series, podcasts — along with scripture, and when an answer draws on a message it names it, so you can go and hear it yourself. It searches only the teaching of the church whose door you came in through.
What it is not, and this part matters
Answers are generated by software and can be wrong. Where they draw on your church’s sermons they cite them, but a citation is an invitation to check, not a guarantee. Where an answer matters, listen to the message it points at. Where it conflicts with your church’s teaching, your church is right and this is not.
It is not pastoral care. It is not a pastor, a counsellor, a doctor, or a lawyer, and nothing it says is professional advice of any kind. It does not know you and cannot sit with you.
It is not for emergencies. If you are in danger or thinking of harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or, in the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Then talk to a real person at your church. Please do not wait on a chat window.
Using it reasonably
Please do not:
- use it to harass anyone, or to submit someone else’s personal information;
- try to break, overload, or work around the limits of the service, or reach another church’s content;
- scrape or bulk-extract a church’s teaching, or pass answers off as your own church’s official position;
- use it to break the law.
Access can be suspended if any of that happens, and a church can decide who among its own people may use its instance.
Accounts, and going without one
You do not need an account. Without one you are anonymous: your conversation is kept on our servers under a random identity that only a cookie in the browser you are using can reach, for 90 days. Clearing that browser’s data, or letting those 90 days pass, loses your way back to the conversation, not the conversation itself — to erase it, use Your profile first. An account exists so your history follows you to another device. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; anyone holding them holds your conversations.
Whose content is whose
A church’s sermons, recordings and documents remain that church’s property. Auxilium indexes them to answer questions for that church and claims no ownership of them. Your questions remain yours; we use them to answer you and to show your church’s staff what its congregation is asking about — the questions themselves, never with a name, as the privacy policy describes. The software itself, and everything Auxilium built to run it, stays Auxilium’s.
Availability
We work to keep Auxilium running and will not pretend it can never be down. It is provided as it is, without a warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, Auxilium is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them, and material changes will be signposted in the product rather than slipped in. Continuing to use Auxilium after a change means accepting it.
